PRIVATE SOMATIC YOGA THERAPY
Personalized Somatic Movement for the Way You Live, Move & Play
Somatics for Everyday Life
Private Somatic Yoga therapy takes the awareness we develop through movement and brings it into the way you actually live your day.
Together, we can explore how you sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lie down, get back up, work at a desk, exercise, rest and move through the activities you enjoy. Rather than looking for one “right” way to move, we notice where unnecessary effort, tension, compensation or familiar movement patterns may be showing up—and explore other possibilities that may feel more comfortable, efficient and natural for your body.
Sessions are completely individualized. In my healing space near Eastport in The Villages, we can practice on the floor using my extra-wide cushioned mat, from a chair, on the massage table, or with a combination of all three. Somatic movement and awareness can also be incorporated into an Integrative Massage & Healing Therapy session when it supports what we are exploring together.
And what you learn doesn’t stay in the session.
We can bring that same awareness into walking, strength training, pickleball, golf, tennis, biking, yoga and other activities you already enjoy. Somatics becomes a way of noticing how you move—not another workout you have to add to your day.
The intention is to give you practical tools you can carry into everyday life, helping you better understand your own movement patterns, recognize what your body may need, and make more conscious choices about how you sit, move, rest, play and exercise.
FAQs
-
The brief online consultation gives us a chance to meet, talk about what you are experiencing, answer your questions, and make sure my approach is a good fit for your needs.
Because private Somatic Yoga Therapy is individualized, this conversation also helps me understand how we might begin working together. You do not need to know what kind of practice you need—that is something we can explore together.
-
You don’t have to give up the activities you already enjoy. Somatic movement can help you become more aware of how your body is moving—where you may be holding unnecessary tension, compensating, or relying on habitual movement patterns.
By improving body awareness, muscular control, and movement efficiency, somatic practices can help you approach walking, strength training, yoga, golf, pickleball, tennis, cycling, or other activities with greater ease and awareness.
Think of somatics as a way to fine-tune how you move, so the exercise and activities you already enjoy can work better for your body.
-
No. You do not need to be flexible, know yoga poses, or have previous yoga experience. We begin with the body you have today and adapt the practice to you.
The movements and awareness practices we explore can become tools you use at home, in daily life, and within the exercise or movement routines you already enjoy. As you become more aware of how your body moves—where you may be holding tension, compensating, or returning to habitual patterns—you can begin to recognize what your body needs and make more conscious choices about how you move.
The goal is to give you practical tools and greater confidence in your own body so, over time, you become your own best teacher.

Wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing that allows you to move, sit, lie down, and rest with ease. You do not need special yoga clothing. Layers can be helpful if you tend to get cool, and socks are always welcome.
For sessions in my healing space, you do not need to bring a yoga mat. I have an extra-wide cushioned mat, chair, and massage table available so we can choose what works best for your body that day. If you have a favorite pillow, blanket, or personal support that helps you feel comfortable, you are welcome to bring it.
-
You do not need to practice on the floor. We can work from a chair, on an extra-wide cushioned mat, or—during private sessions in my healing space—use the massage table when the floor is not easily accessible.
The practice can also be made smaller, slower, or even explored through imagined movement.
-
Absolutely. Your body gets a vote. You may make a movement smaller, choose another variation, pause, rest, or skip it entirely.
Part of the practice is learning to listen to what your body is communicating rather than pushing through.
